Almost every buyer wants the same thing: prove several models sell before betting on one. The mistake is assuming the whole order's quantity buys tier pricing on every model. It does not — and knowing the actual rule is what lets you plan a mixed order that still lands a good blended price.
Tiered pricing exists because each model carries its own setup: an assembly run, a logo tooling or printing plate, a packaging configuration. That setup is amortised across the quantity of that model. So in a 1,000 pcs order split across five models, each model is effectively a 200 pcs order and is priced at the entry tier — even though the order looks large on paper.
| Plan | Split | How each model is priced | Blended result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Even split | 5 models × 200 pcs | All five sit in the entry tier | Highest blended cost — no model reaches a tier break |
| Hero + filler | 1 model × 700 pcs + 4 models × 75 pcs | Hero model reaches the mid tier; fillers stay at entry tier | Lower blended cost, and the hero SKU is the one you will reorder |
Indicative structure. Exact tier break points are set per model and per supplier.
A mixed order is a market test, not a cost play. Its job is to tell you which model deserves the volume — then your second order, concentrated on that model, is where the tier pricing pays off.
| Scenario | Typical lead time | Planning note |
|---|---|---|
| All models in stock | 3–7 days | Fastest path; sell while stock lasts |
| Stock models + custom logo | 10–15 days | Add printing time per model |
| Stock + one custom-run model | 15–25 days | The custom run sets the shipment date for the whole order |
| Multiple custom models | 20–30+ days | Schedule each model's run; ship as one lot or split shipments |
Yes, as long as the order total reaches MOQ. Each model is priced in the tier its own quantity falls into, so tier pricing is not automatically applied to every SKU in a large mixed order.
For in-stock models, often 20–50 pcs per model. Custom logo or colour usually raises this to 100–500 pcs per model because each model needs its own setup.
Give 60–80% of the volume to one hero model so it crosses a tier break, and use the remainder for small test quantities of other models.
Yes. A universal box with a model-name label, or one product-line box design, is a common and effective cost reduction. Reserve model-specific packaging for the hero SKU.
